Exhaust Fumes Linked to Leukemia

A 20-year study following the incidence of leukemia among children in northern Italy found that children living near high-traffic areas were more likely to develop the leukemia than those living in low-traffic areas. The heightened risks were associated with benzene exposure. Benzene is a known carcinogen found in exhaust fumes.
